Raw Background Notes

All of this is subject to final decisions by Bruce on where things are going, but I thought I'd share what I've built so far.

I'm expecting to play a Dragonborn Barbarian. That's a striker, so I'm expected to do a lot of damage. I'm building mine as a 'thaneborn' barbarian and I've also taken the Warlord multiclass feat, so I've actually got reasonable abilities to debuff monsters. Mostly, even with new tweaks I've made, I'm going to be a little fragile, although I do get a lot of hit points to make up for it.

Background: I'm from a wild tribe of dragonborn formed after the fall of civilization. My people offer themselves as boarding marines to whichever major culture we're in. I'm not 100% sure how that relationship came about.

In the case of my character, he's the son of a Chief, exiled from his tribe because he fell in love with the daughter of one of his father's chief rival. It was his younger brother who got him exiled. I've sense served with some distinction on the marines. As a noble, he has always had to maintain diplomatic relations with both his own tribe and those os his rivals; these skills have served him well in the marines, where he continues to work with both other dragonborn and the humans. He has worked actively to dress and blend in with the humans although he still wears his ancient tribal pendant.

Yes kids, this Barbarian has the Diplomacy skill and isn't afraid to use it. :) Depending on what others do, he might end up being the group talker. At a very minimum, he usually works to try to defuse fights when that's reasonable. In an actual fight, he doesn't show any hesitation, mind you. But from where he's from, it is best to defuse the fight before one of the dragonborn get bloodied.
